Accuracy

These pages encourage children to focus on the details, with practice reading of look alike words or targeting commonly confused letters within words.

Eye Reading

In this 37 page file, the student has to read as they leap from word to word, but look carefully! The words may look the same but there is one different in each row. The repetitive pattern has the child pick up speed while the trick word demands constant focus on the details. With pages for each nekudah, there is lots of opportunity for practice. By the time your child is done he/she is sure to be an expert!

Beat the Clock

Beat the clock! Read these familiar 2 syllable words, but watch out for the tricksters! Practice combining intellectual and visual reading for fluency with accuracy. Encoding/illustrating activity included as well.

Shin/Sin Treehouse Word Sort (Smartboard)

Help the monkeys go to their proper tree houses by clicking on each one and bringing them to the letter house (shin or sin) that matches the letter in their word cards. Encourage children to read each monkey’s word before bringing each monkey home to play!

Shin/Sin Self Check

Cut out word lists and fold mouth pictures back. Identify the shin or sin in each word and then check your answer on the back by referencing the picture. Try imitating the mouth picture while stressing the letter sound. Now read the word! Option: Make a “Slide Through/Peak Through Window” using template on last page.

Hebrew Words Gameshow

Choose the word that matches the picture to score points for your team. (Words used are items most children can easily recognize – such as Megillah, Mezuzah, Menorah, Challah…) Read carefully – watch out for the tricksters!

Hebrew Colors and Numbers Gameshow

2 SMARTboard games are included with this file – one with Hebrew numbers and one with Hebrew colors. Spin the wheel and choose the word that matches the picture to score points for your team. (Depending on the child’s Hebrew vocabulary level, teacher may opt to name the Hebrew color or number for the students to hunt for.)  Look out for the tricksters!
