Book I (pages 1-64) begins with the mystery of Sister who disappeared in an attempt to avoid doing her “too hard” homework. Mrs. Ziggawat comes to the rescue with a fun Yom Tov themed comic story for each sh’va rule featuring the lovable Ziggawats and two new characters: Loudy and Sleepy. Each adorably animated sh’va character comes to life as readers learn, along with Sister, the sh’va na/nach rules. All this while learning important values and skills such as respect, problem solving, and friendship.
Educational strategies such as keyword, mnemonic devices, and associations are integrated into the stories – including the most important strategy of all: Enjoyment! There is also a practice reading page at the end of each story to reinforce the rule.
In Book II (pages 65-115), Mr. Ziggawat helps Ziggawat with his specialty homework as well, with a short comic teaching each of the ten specialty rules followed by an activity page to reinforce the rule. Taught in a systematic and fun way, these rules help demystify the reading of Hebrew words from the most simple to the most complex.
